Christmas Jitters...

I can't even believe that it is half way through December already... Where does the time go?  anyways, this month has been pretty eventful so far!  I turned 23 last week... which is totally weird! It was a nice day though! Ray took the day off which was nice! Instead of a cake I wanted gingerbread cookies! :) So here are just some fun pictures of our day!

Here is our end product... Ray's is the very left and mine are the other 2... mine are supposed to be Ray and Me.. Can't ya tell!? such a striking resemblance right?!!?

Ray also surprised me with these flowers!! They are so pretty!

I think I found a new favorite flower! These big puffy pink flowers are SOOOOO cool! I love them! and apparently they are the flower of the month! I want to grow them in my garden if I ever get one... although I think they wouldn't do well in utah.

Tender! :)

Anyways.... Christmas is this weekend and we are all excited here! Especially Ray! For the past 2 weeks he has come home from work so excited haha it is so cute! Everyday he'll say "Only ___ days until CHRISTMAS!!" or "I am so excited for Christmas!" and things like that! He is like a little kid it makes me laugh but I love him! Today is his last day of work (which is weird because the rest of the world got out yesterday) and I am sure he will come home from school today all hopped up on christmas excitement and everything haha.  We decided to spend Christmas Eve with his family instead of mine like we usually do and Christmas day at mine!  It will be totally weird and we will see how it goes... We may never switch again haha!

I also decided (this morning at 6 a.m.) that I wanted to make a Christmas card. I asked Ray if he wanted me to make one a couple weeks ago and he flat out told me he didn't want to.  To quote him he said, "No one wants to see our card.. We got married not too long ago and everyone is sick of us." Ok, so to be fair those weren't his EXACT words but it was to that effect! I think he just didn't want his picture taken haha So I just pulled one from a few months ago.  I think it turned out really cute! :) So Merry Christmas everyone and happy New Year!

I am feelin the Love!

I should have posted this post yesterday but as always... I was too lazy.. anyways, I had a pretty good day yesterday! At the beginning of the semester the 1st councilor in the bishopric cornered us one day and asked Ray if he could meet with the Bishop that week and said (and I quote) "you can bring your wife if you want." Yes!!! that meant Ray was getting a calling and I wasn't! Perfect! I laughed at him for the rest of the day and told him that I bet he was getting an awful calling like being a sunday school teacher or something like that! I also entertained the thought of him being in the Young Men's which wouldnt have been bad besides the fact that those types of callings take a lot of time that Ray is already lacking.  Anyways, Sunday afternoon the next week rolls around and we go to the meeting with the Bishop and he tells Ray that he has been called as a ward missionary (which entails chatting with everyone and their dog... every sunday AND he has to teach a sunday school class once a month HAHA). anyways he gives him details and then he turns to me.... I was shocked! I thought I was just there for moral support. I probably had the funniest dumbfounded expression on my face when he gave me a calling too! He asked me if I would work with the activity days program with another lady... unfortunately it was during school hours.  I sooo.. wish I could have taken that calling! There is this little girl that I would have been working with that is sooooo cute! Her name is Sadie and she has long pretty red hair and freckles! anyways, so a week later they come up with a "sunday only" calling.  They called me as a CTR 5 primary teacher. I was soooo mad!

In our last ward Ray and I were primary teachers for the 10 year olds and to say that I hated it would be a gave underestimation.  I was miserable and I literally HATED the kids. Which isn't a good thing when you are a primary teacher! I made Ray do the teaching and I sat there and yelled at the kids when they wouldnt listen. I thought they were snobby little rich kids that only care about their big houses and "awesome electronic toys".  I have NO patience for that and since I don't have any kids I have unrealistic expectations on how kids should behave.  The kids were miserable to I am sure.  When we told the primary president that we would be moving within the month she turned white and said (and I am quoting agian) "Oh no!! Not the 10 year olds! What will we do!?"  It's sad when they have to sucker the newly weds that dont know any better into to being the primary teacher these kids!  I was so happy when our lease for our apartment just because that meant we would be moving and would be released! It was a happy day when we were released! And it was nice going to church for a month or two without callings when we moved into our new ward.. but as it happens.. you dont stay like that for very long.

Anyways, needless to say, I accepted the calling to teach the 5 and 6 year olds. Luckily there were 2 other teachers that I would be sharing the job with so I felt a little better. But not much.  So I went to church the next week, was sustained and set apart and the next week they shoved me right in! I was really nervous. I hated primary before and I hoped this calling would be different.  I am happy to say that it is COMPLETELY different than what I was expecting.  I can honestly say that I love junior primary and I love my class.  They are the sweetest, cutest, smartest group of 5 year olds I have ever seen! I have decided that I love this age.  They are old enough that they are able to participate in an actual lesson and most are able to tell you details about gospel principles and stories that you wouldn't think they would know.  Yet, they are young enough that the actually WANT to participate! It is almost a fight to pick someone to say the prayers and when you ask a question you have to ask each individual child their thoughts or they get so worked up that you didnt call on them to answer the question!  It is sooo cute!

And they say the cutest things!  For example, yesterday I was sitting in primary by one of my favorite little boys in my class. His name is Caleb and he is the blondest boy I have ever met! It is his birthday on Wednesday and I was asking him what he was getting for his birthday and he looks at me funny and said "I just want to see my family ok?!" it was so funny! I didn't expect that. I expected him to say some fun toy or something.  And then, in class the teacher was talking about the resurrection of christ and how christ did that for us because we couldnt have been able to make it back to heaven without him and she asked "What is something that your mom does for you that you cant do for yourself" and Caleb said in a disgusted voice "She wakes me up REALLY early so I can get ready for school."  and the teacher replyed "How come you think she does that for you?" and his reply was so cute! He said in the most excited/happy voice I have ever heard, "Because she is so nice!"  haha apparently you can be appaled and excited at the same time when your mom wakes you up in the morning! Another funny thing was when the teacher asked "what holiday do we celebrate the resurrection of christ?"  and the first child to answer said Halloween haha they are hilarious!

After church yesterday I decided to take a nap and I am so mad that I did! because right before I woke up one of the cute little girls brought me over a plate of cookies! here is the little note she left for me with the cookies:

It says "you are the best teacher ever from hope to sister davis" I love it!  I love the picture she drew of us holding hands! It made my day! they were pretty good cookies too! anyways, I just love my calling and couldnt have asked for a better one.  The kids are so sweet and have the cutest and most touching testimonies.  They are all examples to me and always know what to say to make me laugh at myself!  I will be sad when this year is over and I get reassigned to a new class.. (maybe they will let me stay with this class.. I am crossing my fingers).  anyways....

Davis Residence Happenings

The second week in October is always a fun one filled with birthday magic!  haha... Ray had his birthday last friday (october 8) and I made him an Oreo Cake!  It was kinda messy and didnt really look all that great but I am guessing it was pretty good because before I even got to the cake Ray had eaten half of it haha... it was fun! We just spent the night watching the Big Bang Theory Season 2 and eating ice cream and root beer floats! :) I can't believe he is 27... Weird! :)

Next on the October birthday train was my cute neice Elle's 3rd birthday! I wanted to make her something special so I decided to make her a cute tutu and a matching princess wand!
Here are the results! I was told that Elle's favorite color was pink so I went from there! I think they turned out so stinkin cute!!!

Here is the wand.  I kinda BS'ed on this one... I didnt have a pattern or anything to really follow so I just scrunched up the tulle and hot glued it onto a dowel covered in ribbon. I think it is stinkin cute and matches the tutu...
Here are the results of the tutu!

Isn't it so cute?! It was SUPER puffy but I hoped it would be ok!

Anyways, Elle had her birthday at that pirate restaurant place in Provo which turned out to be pretty fun! I won lots of tickets, or what I thought was a lot of tickets... turns out I didn't have anywhere near what was needed to trade in for anything awesome.  So I donated them to Elle's ticket bucket.  Hopefully they got her something fun!  But.... Watching her open her presents was fun! She opened mine very last which worked out!

She was so cute!! She put the tutu on and started leaping and prancing around the restaurant and twirling! She is so funny!  Apparently she didnt want to take it off to go to bed and then insisted that she put it on the second she woke up!! I am glad my tutu was a hit! ;)  I am just glad I actually have someone to make cute things like this for!  I definatly dont have one of my own and my sister(s) dont have any so THANK HEAVENS for ray's sister and bro-in-law!!  haha jk

Here is a picture of all of us with an awesome pirate in the background! Elle was too busy looking at her tutu and wand to look at the camera and smile... and dont mind all the red eye in the pictures.. the light was completely AWEFUL for picture taking! but oh well! it was still fun!

anyways... You know the drill!!

ENJOY! or not... your choice!

Cute Baby, Utah State Fair, and other such nonsence

I am a slacker.  Since school started all I want to do is come home and sit on the couch and wait for my "power off" mode to kick in.  but to my dismay.... it never does... so I continue to do homework, brainstorm for upcoming assignments, or vent to Ray (poor guy... he doesn't need anymore stress than he already has..).  So that is why I hardly blog anymore.  There are just too many things to do.

Quite a bit has happened since the last time I blogged and I dont even know where to start! So I guess I will start on the most exciting and work my way from there.  My sister had her baby a couple weeks ago and he is so cute!! Meet cute baby Braxton!!

Isn't he so stinkin cute!! He has so much dark hair too! :) I heart him!

Too bad they love grandma more than me! haha jk

HAHA oh man..... BEST picture ever! (I especially love the cell phone placement... typical! jk)

Anyways... Me and Ray went to the Utah County Fair again this year! I needed to take some pictures for my color photography class and what better place than at the fair?! It is pretty much a color overload!!!  But here are some of me and Ray!

This is us waiting for the sun to go down. It was so BRIGHT and kinda hot!

and i think this one is my ultimate fav! haha in the 4-H building (or whatever that building is called with all the fish and stuffed animals) there were these awesome things you stick your head through so you can take a picture... I dont really know what it was supposed to be but I still think it is funny!

Here are some of my shots... just for fun!

(this is why we were waiting for the sun to go down!)

This one is my favorite! it is so colorful! and the greatest part is this image is straight out of camera... which means this is really how it looked... I did NOTHING to it!! how great is that!?

anyways, you know the drill!

The end....

Today (and last saturday) marked the last of our summer days! I can't believe how fast this summer has really gone by! I'm not really complaining because I hate summer. All the sun and heat and dryness really isnt for me.  I like the crisp, coolness of the fall! The only drawback of the fall is that school has to start.  This is the 5th fall that I have started school and I still have one more to go! I have been going to school for sooooo... long!  But I am here to tell you that the end is very near!.... ok not very near, more like 4 semesters near! If all goes perfectly (which it never does) I will be a college graduate in December of 2011! Just in time for my birthday! :) but I doubt it will all go that smoothly and I will end up graduating in the spring of 2012.  I'm still going to cross my fingers and hope I can get it all worked out.  My poor academic advisor haha I bug her at least once a week and I meet with her once a month! She probably cant stand all my questions and nagging for her to get stuff done for me! But I REALLY want to graduate haha... I do however have an associates!! I have had all most all of the requirements for it done a long time ago except for Math 1050 and I am happy to say that I finished with a B- and I am so proud of myself haha! It has taken me as long as it takes most people to get a bachelors to get an associates.. haha oops! oh well I only have like 40 more credits to graduate.  It's great! Oh! and in my awesome math class that I took I won a t-shirt for taking and passing an exam first (although I did that with EVERY exam. my little class had 5 people in it including me and they were all salckers!).

Don't mind my red, sweaty face.  I had just gotten done with my running! You cant really see the shirt but it is actually a cute shirt. It has a tree on it!! anyways, this summer has also brought with it weddings weddings weddings!! Ray and I have gotten invited to like 6 weddings this summer! and the craziest part is that they all took place from July 30 to august 28th!  In one month, 6 people that I know got married! We only went to 3 of them though.  The first one that we got to go to was pretty special for me! It was one of my college roommates from USU.  She was pretty much the only roommate that I ever really cared about haha.  We did so much together my first 2 years up in logan!  so many memories.. anyways she got married July 30th and we got to go in and see their sealing in the Mt. Timp. temple and it was great!

she looked so pretty! you can seem me and ray int he back right of the picture! :) I miss her and I am so happy for her! :) congrats Whit!!  anyways the next wedding was my lil sis Nicole's wedding. It was August 14th and it was a fabulous wedding if I do say so myself! :) I cant take any of the credit because it was all my mom but it was pretty and Nicole looked awesome!

The next wedding was Kylie's! It was fun! I heart you Ky! congrats! Sorry I don't have a picture.... I forgot to take one and you haven't posted any for me to steal ;) But I am happy for you!!
There were others that got married and will be getting married but I don't feel the need to talk about them on my blog haha I am obviously not that attached to them haha... anyways, for Kylie and Whitney I decided I was going to make them something instead of buying it from the store.. It was a double whammy because I got to do something with all my time and I got to give them a fun gift!! I decided that every girl needs a cute apron! I am not that good at sewing so they aren't that sexy but they are so cute! and if i hadn't got so annoyed at making them theirs I totally would have made myself one!

This one is the one I gave to my friend Whitney!  It's brown and sea foam green! I love the ruffles!!

This one is Kylie's! It is black and red! I love the colors! I had fun with these... minus all the trouble they gave me!! Thank heavens for my mother who finished the hard parts for me!

And this really has nothing to do with weddings or school but before Ray and I moved to Riverton I did a crafty thing!! :) My mom had this mirror with the SLC temple that one of her sisters made for her.  She didn't have anywhere in her house to put it anymore so she gave it to me.  I love this mirror.  But the frame is falling apart. See... it needs some work,

It has been through all my moves in college and after I got married so it has seen better days! The mirror itself is still fabulous but I was always scared that it was going to fall to the ground because it's frame is falling apart! sooo...... I decided that I was going to take a break from packing and go to Michaels to see if I could find a good, moderately priced frame.  So I went and I was in luck! They were having a 50% off sale on custom frames AND I found this frame that was on clearance for $35 which was cheaper than the other frames I found.  I figured that was a good price so I decided to buy it.  As I was checking out the lady told me all my stuff that I was buying came to about $20... I was so confused.. I guess the 50% off applied to the clearance stuff too which was awesome! so I got this frame for so cheap that I am so glad I didn't talk myself out of buying it!! It looks amazing!! and it actually matches my home decor now!!

TADA!!! Doesn't it look much better!!?? I love it even more now! :) Thanks Debbie! (I think that is who my mom said made the mirror!)

Anyways, I have more to write but I think I will save it for another day. This post is already long enough! so Enjoy!! or not! your choice!

More hilarious commercials!!!!!

Can I just tell you how much I LOVE these commercials! I love it!!! My friend from nail school introduced me to these little gems! and again... I love them! I always hate it when tampon and pad commercials come on the tv... they are all soo awkward!! but these are so hilarious that I actually went out and bought some haha!!

The BEST commercial EVER!!

So one of my pet peeves is... ok well I don't know how to say it but do you know those Blu-Ray commercials that they have on DVDs that try and sell you on how "high definition" it is and how "you can just see the clarity" and they are showing you crazy action sequences from all these awesome movies?! ....  when really you are watching it on your normal tv? yeah I HATE THAT!!!!!! hello... you cant show high definition stuff on normal tvs and say "doesnt it just look better"? we cant see the difference!!! so, I was so happy when Sharp Quattron Technology TV commercial came on one time... I couldnt stop laughing and I am saying IT'S ABOUT DANG TIME someone did something like this haha it really makes me want to go buy one of these TVs haha

best thing ever don't you say haha

anyways...

Baby Asher! :)

So I have been in a crafty shmafty mood as of late and I just wanted to share this cute announcement I did of baby Asher Lee Brim! :) I wish we could do some "professional" pictures of him for this announcement but seeing as how he is in the NICU that is kinda not possible... so anyways, here it is! :)

SOO.... funny!

So I came across this and I thought it was so funny!! I have probably said almost all of these to Ray this week! and I thought I would share a laugh with all the married women out there!

1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with "nothing" usually end in "Fine" (refer to #1).

4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing (refer back to #3 for meaning of nothing).

6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That’s okay means she wants you to think long and hard before deciding how you will pay for your mistake.

7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you’re welcome. (Unless she says 'Thanks a lot'- that is pure sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'youre welcome', that will bring on a 'whatever' [#8])

8)Whatever: Is a woman’s way of saying F-- You!!

9) Dont worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times but is now doing herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response, refer to #3.

Isn't it IRONIC? Don't you think!? and The Veil!

My mom and aunt Steph will get a kick out of this one... and possibly everyone else!
As most of you know I am not the cleanest person. I have gotten WAY better upon the event of my marriage to Ray, who tends to be a bit of a clean freak. Also our apartment isn't really that big so any amount of clutter makes our apartment look like a pig pen. However, we do tend to let it get out of hand from time to time... Mostly because of me and my little projects and my lack of enthusiasm for cleaning when I could be working on those projects! haha ... anyways, I had intended to at least tidy up all my little messes before running off to Women's Conference for 2 days. However, It didn't happen. Go figure. So on my way out of the door Thursday morning I left Ray this little note:

needless to say, Ray did not get this not. Wanna know why? Well, I will show you! Here is a picture a little further out so you can get a little perspective.

and a little further...

and add a messy kitchen bar.

Now, this is not the whole of the mess but don't you find it ironically funny that he didnt find the note!? you can barely see it!! haha we had a good laugh about that at womens conference when I asked Ray if he got my note and he told me that he hadn't haha. anyways... it still looks like that today.. only worse haha I have been working on one of my projects and I have been so into it that I havent even left the house for a couple days! But I am SOOOO..... proud of it!

I have been making my sister Nicole's wedding veil! Her bridals are scheduled for the last of this month and I wanted to get started unless it took me forever to finish! but, this veil took me about the same time it took to make the other two veils I made! I love this veil and I hope she does too!

Here is a closer view

and close...

And closer to see the detail! I beaded this cute flower ribbon and put pearls and rhinestones and seed beads!

and up the sides I sewed on the beaded ribbon

and on the top, where I sewed the tulle on the comb I put pearls and crystals!

sorry about the far away pictures. I was too lazy to make them any better!
But there it is! It is finished and now I should go clean up all my messes! :)  I actually really like making veils. It is pretty fun! I just sat on the couch or on the floor and sewed and beaded and watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy! It was fun!

Women's Conference

So this last week was BYU's Women's Conference and I got to go with my aunt Steph and my mommy! :)
 It was pretty fun!

And on thursday night they had this service stuff that was my favorite part!! we got to make cute little tutus for little girls in the cancer center at primary childrens and for little girls in homeless shelters! they were so fun to make and so cute!
here is me in the process of making one... oh wait jk.. that is the finished product haha

here is me being a dork....

The lady that was taking pictures took this of us and I am going to LAUGH it it makes it to the website in a couple weeks.... or the program for next year haha .... oh dear..

here is the table for the finished tutus. this is awesome because we were some of the first to make a tutu so I am sure there were like twice this or maybe even triple this amount wen the night was over!!

We next went on to the fairy wands! we only got to tie the big purple ribbon on but they were so cute! and they matched our tutus we made!!  I better be having a baby girl first! so i can make cute tutus and fairy wands for them! (and NO I am not prego right now so this is not an announcement.. just a statement!)

anyways, it was a fun experience and I will probably do it again next year!  you learn so much! Thanks Mom for taking me with you! It was fun!

So, enjoy! or not... your choice!
